Are you ready to be scandalized?
Prelude to a Scandal (Hqn)
Written by Delilah Marvelle. This is the first book in her Scandal series, due to be released 1/1/11. Justine is an innocent, in love with a dreadful rake, who she needs to marry to save her father. Sound familiar? While the plot is an old favorite the twists are new and quite inventive. The Duke of Bradford has an issue though.. a compulsion, if you will. He is a sex addict. Something I really haven't seen before in any romance novel I have read. I have to say this novel has more masturbation and thoughts of it inside than some erotica. While not graphic, it is clear enough what is going on. I kept waiting for the major plot twist, the giant act that throws all the love they have been working for to shambles... And it never came. I am glad I didn't hold my breath. The apex leaves some to be desired. Although I am glad they do not turn Bradford into a villian. That is really what I was expecting, that he should do something stupid driven by his compulsion, something the heroine would eventually forgive him for- which i cannot abide. Gag. Thankfully, that never came about. The sex is ok, scenes are few and far apart. The thoughts of sex are much more prevalent. This one is a little too cutesy for my taste. Not a bad read, but not something I would read over and over again.
